William F. Roth is currently a professor
of management sciences at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. He has published
six books in his field and more than fifty articles. He has also published six
short stories, two placing in national competitions. "The
Pelican the Pearl and the Live Oak Tree" is based on his experience working with the poverty program and Civil Rights Movement in the
Deep South. William also spent several years as a merchant marine and as a deck hand
on a shrimp boat before returning to school."
William currently has seven books in print including this one. The others
concern management theory, the most recent being -- "Comprehensive
Healthcare for the U.S.: An Idealized Design;" "Ethics in the
Workplace: A Systems Perspective;" and "The Roots and Future of
Management Theory: A Systems Perspective." He has also published over fifty
articles in his field. On the creative writing side he has published seven short
stories. The first, "Hog" placed second in the 1999 Serpentinia
national fiction competition. The second, "Typhoon," placed fourth in
the NMW 2002 national non-fiction competition. Others have been published by The
MacGuffin, the Tacenda Literary Magazine, Workplace, and most recently,
the Schuykill Valley Journal."
