Mike Boushell, currently a Member
Rep. of the GLVWG, is a retired high school English teacher and
former varsity coach.
Mike taught American Literature,
Advanced Placement Composition and Grammar, Creative Writing, and
Sports in Literature during a thirty-two year teaching career. In
addition he coached varsity football, basketball, and baseball for
many years in Pennsylvania's Public Schools. He also taught a graduate-level
course on coaching for Marywood College.
In addition
to a handful of poems and articles, Mike writes Middle School and
Young Adult novels. His first, Freshman Flash (Royal Fireworks
Press, NY) was nominated for a PA Young Readers Choice Award for
2004. His second, Gridiron Hero (Royal Fireworks Press),
was named by the Kansas State Readers Circle to its 2004 Recommended
Reading List for Young Adults. Mike's third novel, Freshmen
Five (Royal Fireworks Press) has been published and will be
released in April 2004. His fourth, Split-finger Phenom is
now in galleys and scheduled to be released in the summer of 2004.
Mike is currently contracted to write a series of juvenile sports
novels by RFP.
